Baseball News - The Yankees have moved on, to other deals of course
The New York Yankees have moved on after being defeated by the Mets in their battle for Pedro. For once, the saying “What the Boss wants, the Boss gets”, is wrong. The Boss wanted Pedro so badly to get back at the Red Sox. The Mets stopped his dream and put an outrageous offer out on the table. As many people have noticed, Pedro has been deteriorating in his “stuff” the past few years. He is still one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball however. The Yankees are now trying to sign Beltran and trade for Randy Johnson. Beltran is also looking for an unheard of $20 million dollars a year. But wait there’s more! He wants a 10 year contract. Yes, a ten year contract. If Mr. Beltran gets hurt in his first yeah, there goes $200 million dollars down the drain. Something most teams can’t afford. Some call this greedy. Carlos Beltran is a good player, but nobody is worth that much money. Many trade propositions have come up throughout Randy Johnson talks. A lot of 3 way trades have come up such as White Sox-Yankees-Diamondbacks including Randy Johnson, Javier Vazquez and Carlos Lee. Randy Johnson has clearly stated, New York Yankees, or bust. He will not waive his no-trade clause unless it is to the Yankees. The Yankees aren’t willing to make any outrageous offers for this 41-year old. Who would? Talks between the Yankees and Diamondbacks restarted today but nothing major. No new deals have been proposed. by Matt Gartner on 12/14/04
