Football News - Ben Roethlisberger: the next Terry Bradshaw?



If there is anyone who can ice the Patriots impressive 21 game winning streak, it is Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now they may not have the same defense that they had in the mid 90's that was known as the 'Steel Curtain', but they do have their new aged form of Terry Bradshaw. He has the arm, he has the size, he isn't afraid to take the big hit for his team, and most importantly, nothing phases him. He is 4-0 since he over as the starter of the injured Tommy Maddox in Week 2. So far this season, Ben has completed 78 of 113 pass attempts, throwing for 937 yards and 7 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. The most impressive stat, however, out of all those numbers, is the fact that he has a 69% completion rating. He has also rushed for 25 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. Right now, he has to be the unanimous choice for Offensive Rookie of the Year in the AFC, no questions asked. He has totally changed the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there is no reason to believe that because of Big Ben, they are not legit Super Bowl contenders. He has his team rolling at a 5-1 record, one full game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens. Now, in Week 8, he faces his toughest opponent yet, the New England Patriots and their defense. That said, if he does indeed snap the Patriots 21 game winning streak, the Pittsburgh Steelers have found their forthcoming of Terry Bradshaw. We will see what happens this Sunday when the two teams hook up at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
