Baseball News - Miller Time In Boston


The Boston Red Sox have scooped up free agent right hander Wade Miller, only days after he hit the market. Having lost Pedro Martinez and Derek Lowe to free agency, Miller finishes out a rotation expected to include David Wells, Bronson Arroyo, Tim Wakefield and Matt Clement. Curt Schilling is expected to start the season on the disabled list.

Miller went 7-7 with a 3.35 ERA for the Astros last year before his season ended with rotator cuff surgery. Miller is 58-39 lifetime with a 3.87 ERA.

Miller signed a 1 year deal with the Red Sox with a base salary of 1.5 million dollars and 3 million in incentives (4.5 million total). Wade could prove to be one of the best bargains in what has been an inflated off-season.
